Rantapuisto park
The coastal park Rantapuisto has been heavily developed in recent years. The aim is to develop the park into a communal living room for residents, with something for everyone.
In 2018 and 2019, the focus has been on the northern part of Rantapuisto and the Casino Bay area. In the future, development will continue southwards around the Kolmisointu area, Tervanokka beach and carpet washing area. An investment reserve for 2022 has been set aside for the rehabilitation of the structures of the stormwater discharge point between Rantapuisto and Tervanokka and possible other necessary stormwater treatment. So far, the design and implementation of the other areas has not been precisely timed.
In addition to atmospheric trails and large grassy areas, Rantapuisto offers a wide range of activities. The field at the north end offers the opportunity to play. Cooling pipes installed under the surface allow the ice rink to freeze even in lower temperatures. Special lighting allows patterns to be projected onto the ice surface or the ground.
The Silkkiuikku play park provides a safe, fenced area for the little ones in the family to play. A pirate ship takes you on a voyage of imagination, and if you look carefully at dusk you can see a fairy among the branches of the trees, illuminated.
The Senior Park has fitness equipment specially designed for older people to keep their muscles fit and mobile. For the more adventurous, there is a climbing cube at the edge of the area. The sports services offer regular guidance sessions in the senior park. The multi-purpose area on the south side of the senior park has a fenced basketball court and slightly more robust fitness equipment.
The most used theme area in the beach park is certainly the SK8 skate park, which attracts young people of all ages from the surrounding municipalities to try their skills. The area features quater pipe, flat rail and mound, among others. Everyone from small skaters to big skaters can practice in the same area, as long as there are common rules. However, for safety reasons, BMX bikes are not allowed in the skate park.
