Pre-school education
Pre-school education is an important link between early childhood education and basic education. During the year of free pre-school education, a child learns a huge number of skills they need when they go to school.
In January of every year, all children who turn six that year and their families will receive a letter either electronically or by post, informing them about the organisation of pre-school education and how to apply for it.
Children participating in pre-school education are assigned a pre-school place based on the child’s home address according to the population information system.
Pre-school places are assigned annually in January. However, the pre-school application can also be filled in at other times, such as when a child moves to Järvenpää in the middle of the activity period.
If you or your child don´t have a Finnish personal indentification number you can fill out the application on paper. The video below shows how to get help filling out the application. You can change the subtitles to English on Russia.
You can find all the daycare centres of Järvenpää and their locations on the map
