Independent library use
Self-service hours
The library has self-service hours in the mornings.
You can use the library independently during the first hours of operation.
During this time, there is one employee available at the library hall. They will help with the self-checkout machines and instruct in the use of the online library.
During self-service hours, you have all the library facilities at your disposal.
You can also borrow and return items normally, pick up your hold items and use the library’s computers and other devices independently.
Our cash desk services are not in use and our customer service desk is not open.
Self-service library
What is the self-service library?
The self-service library is open from early in the morning until well into the evening!
In the self-service library, you have access to the library’s reading room and lobby – the rest of the library is closed.
There are no staff present.
In the self-service library, you can spend time, read magazines and newspapers, study, work, return your loans and pick up your hold items.
You have access to all the devices in the premises.
Sociability and normal speaking volume are acceptable in the self-service library. However, the self-service library is a peaceful place where you have to take other users into account.
How to get in during the self-service time?
The self-service library can be accessed via both entrances by logging in with your Kirkes library card and PIN. You use the same PIN e.g. in the online library, when borrowing using lending machines and when using e-resources.
You can get a PIN at the library’s customer service desk during service hours.
