Children’s and youth services

The shelves of the children’s and youth department are full of books, magazines, films, CDs and games for loan. At the library, you can read or play board games. There are two online computers in the children’s department that can be used by anyone under the age of 15 with a library card and PIN.

Story hours and a wide range of events are organised for children and young people of all ages. Daycare groups and school classes are welcome to come for group visits or they can invite a booktalker to their school. The children’s and youth department has its own information desk.

Reading dogs

Do you want to read to a nice and friendly buddy? Anyone learning to read is welcome to come and read to a reading dog. The reading dog does not criticise or rush you. Instead, it enjoys every reader.

Four readers can read to the reading dog in one day. Each reading session is 15 minutes long. The reading takes place in the story room Onneli. Book a session with the reading dog by email or phone. Only one session can be booked at a time.

In addition to the reading dog and reader, there is an instructor present who watches from the sidelines to make sure that everything goes well.
