Residents over 70
Stay away from close contacts
The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health (STM) and the National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) decided to officially relax the guidelines for those over 70 years of age.
According to the new guidelines, people over the age of 70 can be met, but outdoors, taking care of hand hygiene and remembering 1-2 meter safety distance.
When visiting, avoid shaking hands and hugging. Please make the visit only when you dont have any coronavirus symptoms.
When you organize outdoor gatherings, please make sure people are arriving different times so you can keep 1-2 meter safety distance. Respiratory protective masks are recommented to be used and also disinfectant for hands everytime you visit elderly people.
The aim of the Government is to protect people over the age of 70 from coronavirus infection in particular. Older people are clearly at a higher risk of developing severe, hospital-requiring symptoms than young people, and older people are more likely to develop underlying diseases than young people.
The policy is to oblige people over the age of 70 to stay away from close contact with other people where possible.
